Antique of the Week: Egg Stands

A staple of the Victorian breakfast, eggs were given a place of honor on the table. Often served with elaborate flair, the egg criets or egg stand was a convenient service to hold the egg cups, spoons and often the accompanying condiments on the breakfast table or on the sideboard or hunt board. The cups and spoons were easily removed for the individual servings. Elaborate silver styles could include up to as many as twelve cups in tiers forming “egg trees”  with shakers and castors included in the design.

Do you use egg cups or a similar service today?

Have a lovely day! ~Kathryn
