One of my favorite designs is plaid…particularly, tartans. From fashion to interior design, antiques to tabletop, there is never too much plaid for this designer! One of my favorite plaid resources that I would like to share with you is a very lovely book called Tartan-Romancing the Plaid by Jeffrey Banks and Doria De La Chapelle.
This is certainly a must for your “Collected Library”! This beautiful volume gives an entertaining history of this design motif and has such lovely photography of tartans in design, fashion , travel, art, and history. Images of plaid just bring me such pleasure and I use them a great deal in my interior design work.
In the United Kingdom, tartan and plaid are ubiquitous and perhaps that is why I love spending time there! From…
Fabric…
To antique tartanware … (which is a favorite antique and one that makes a stunning collection)
To Tabletop…
To Stylish Travel Cases…
To Fashion…
To Interiors…
I am just Mad About Plaid! Be inspired to enfold yourself in these fabulous tartans! I will leave you with a little ‘tartan humor’…
What’s under that kilt you might ask?? Body Painted boxers, of course!

I recently “dismantled” a tartan pleated plaid skirt (bought it when I met Prince Charles at…JCP years ago!!) and made pillows . You can’t let a good plaid go!! franki
