If you are looking for drama, perhaps you might want to consider a red room. Subtlety is not red’s calling card and a red room is certainly not for the “faint of heart”. Red rooms are inherently cozy, but it is often difficult to get just the right red. When working with my design clients, doing a red room is definitely a “process”! Sometimes a small dose makes a big impact. Are they looking for a bricky red or a bluer red?! Most of us prefer one or the other. I prefer a blue based red to a yellow based red, but they are a bit more tricky, especially when doing an entire room. Like red nail polish, red rooms are classic if done correctly!
In my design experience, I find that Ralph Lauren reds are just the best. Some of my favorite Ralph Lauren reds are…
Venetian Red-TH49
Balmoral Red-TH44
Dressage Red-TH 41
Other reds that I have used successfully are…
Farrow and Ball Rectory Red 217
Pratt and Lambert-Vintage Claret 1013
Donald Kaufman-DKC-17
Fine Paints of Europe-Tulip Red W1001B-M
And Benjamin Moore just provides a great pallet of reds for every preference and for large and small “doses”!
Benjamin Moore Merlot Red 2006-10
Benjamin Moore Ladybug Red 1322
Benjamin Moore Chili Pepper 2004-20
Benjamin Moore Heritage Red Exterior Room
Benjamin Moore Million Dollar Red 2003-10
Perhaps some of these lovely red rooms will inspire you to think “In The Red”!
Have a lovely day!
