Labor Day Reading Recommendations

I can’t think of a better thing to do on a long, lazy weekend than catch up on a bit of reading that I have been waiting to savor for several weeks. There are Five books (I know, I will be busy) in particular that I’m looking forward to digging into, because these three talented authors are all a part of the Cashiers Designer Showhouse, known as Lone Chimney Lodge, with me this month.

1. The Joy of Decorating by Phoebe Howard

Phoebe designed the upper level porch of Lone Chimney Lodge and it is simply divine. I know there are many more ideas in this beautiful book of hers. Plus, I must say, I adore the blue-and-white cover — those are my colors!

2. Charles Faudree Home by Charles Faudree

I have been a fan of his books for quite some time. He is responsible for the well-appointed design of the dining room in this year’s showhouse, but I’m certain Charles Faudree Home has tons of gorgeous ideas for the entire house.

3. Porch Living  by James T. Farmer III

POrch Living

I must say I have been looking forward to James Farmer’s books for quite some time. After seeing his fabulous design for the lower level porch, I can’t wait to see what fresh ideas are in store in this book.

4. The Houses of Veranda by Lisa Newsom

Well, that concludes my list of  suggested readings from my fellow showhouse designers!

Remember, the showhouse runs now through September 2, so hurry on over to Cashiers to see it before it is gone!

And lastly, we all know that this weekend is a holiday!!  My suggested read for  Labor Day  is: More than You Know  by Penny Vincenzi

Penny Vincenzi is one of my favorite English authors !  I first discovered her fabulous novels when I picked up a copy of No Angel in London.  I was immediately hooked and couldn’t put down this trilogy called Spoils of Time.  Her latest book that I purchased last week for my upcoming holiday weekend reading is, More than You Know, described as “It all comes down to love or money in this high-stakes romantic drama set against the chic and sexy backdrop of 1960’s and ‘70s London.

I guess I will leave you with that…

Have a lovely long weekend!
