For our Friday Find today, I am thrilled to offer up a new line that we are selling now at Kathryn Greeley Designs from the Maison d’objet show in Paris!…Parentesi Placemats by La Gallina Matta. Named for their shape, “Parentesi” means parenthesis in Italian. These lovely placemats are made in Italy and constructed of pure linen , coated (or “oil clothed”) and finished with a tailored double border embroidered in mercerized cotton. The color range is incredible for both informal dinnerware or the most elaborate fine china. What is so wonderful and unique about these placemats is their unique coating that makes them stain and wrinkle resistant. Should a spill happen, simply wipe clean with a damp sponge! Heavier soiling can be machine washed on the gentle cycle using cold water with a mild detergent… air dry flat and then press with the iron’s lowest steam setting and press on the reverse side, covered by a towel. I will warn, shrinkage of about 3% is normal with the first laundering.
Below, you will see that a simple monogram adds additional beauty and sophistication to these incredible placemats!
