Gift giving is a real joy for me and creative wrapping brings me great pleasure! This summer I have had several wedding invitations and two of my best friends have “big birthdays” this summer. So I have had ample opportunity for creative presentation.
I try to be on the constant lookout for lovely papers and ribbons, especially handmade paper. Two of my favorite sources are Midori and Paper Source. Kathryn Greeley Designs has long had an account with Midori, as I love their recycled cotton fiber handmade papers.
And their ribbons are quite yummy!
I also pop into a Paper Source shop when I have the opportunity. Recently I found the most divine green and blue handmade paper there and some exquisite “leaf” ribbon to go with it. I have been saving this lovely paper for two of my friend’s “big birthdays” that I mentioned earlier!
A great source for getting “all wrapped up”, is Carolyne Roehm’s lovely book, Presentations!
I have had this book for some time and it is a great source of inspiration if you are passionate about your gifts having a spectacular presentation. Carolyne covers wrapping from A to Z, and gives great sources for papers, ribbon, and other key ingredients for great presentations.
If you are taking great care in selecting any type of gift, why not give the actual gift the same care by giving it a lovely presentation! For me this is simply part of savoring the art of gift giving.
I love giving little gifts of my homemade jams and pickles and want to leave you with this fun image of a gift “all wrapped up”!
Add a great antique bread knife and/or a jam spoon for a perfect summer hostess gift. And if the bread is homemade…that is certainly a total gift of love!
So be creative and be inspired !
