“Tablescapes”: Garden Motifs on the Table!

Garden Motifs on the Table!

I really must have “gardening fever”, because even my tabletop thoughts turn to the garden.  Three of my favorite china patterns that have a garden motif come to mind these warm Spring days!  Two of these patterns are from Pickard China Company and are designed by Charlotte Moss.

“Elsie” seems to reference one of Elsie de Wolfe’s favorite motifs-trellis!  Wolfe (1865-1950) lived in France a great deal of her life and her early style was epitomized by charming French garden motifs.

Another is, “Espalier”.  The design for Espalier comes from the potagers and parterras in Europe, where trees and vines are trained to grow on flat planes to conserve space and maximize new growth.

The third pattern with this motif that I adore is “Jardin Francais by Haviland China Company.

So if you too  are plagued by “garden fever”, a nice cure might just be a few pieces of one of these patterns to make your “collected tabletop”!

Enjoy !
