I am quite fond of the design work and fabric line of Nina Campbell…London based designer extraordinaire! Late last fall, she introduced a lovely collection that really “spoke to me”, which is called “ Rosslyn”. This collection of fabric and wallpaper pays tribute to her Scottish heritage and is evocative of the romantic landscapes of the Highlands and its picturesque castles and glens. I find this collection very fresh and updated, certainly not a traditional looking “Scottish” collection. My favorite fabric/wallpaper in the collection is called Rosslyn, a painterly print which has four beautiful color pallets in the fabric and five in the wallcovering. I like the informal array of flowers and foliage and the coral, charcoal and red color way is so unusual!
The neutral pallet of grays and gold/yellow is serene and could work in a traditional room or one more transitional. Sadly, this color way is only in wallpaper!
The pastel color way is soft and traditional.
And what a punch both of these jewel toned color ways could give a room.
Companion fabrics to this “painterly print” are also fresh and updated.
“Drummond” (above) makes me think of a traditional “argyle print”, but on a large scale! Cawdor is a nice “filler fabric” in interesting colorations. While on a trip to Scotland, I had the pleasure of visiting Cawdor Castle and I would highly recommend this Scottish national treasure. The gardens at Cawdor are splendid ! Upon returning home from Scotland, I came across a book on Cawdor, Highland Living, which I also recommend if the Scottish style appeals to you.
And a real favorite, especially for a child’s room is “Lochwood”. So soft and delicate, with the beautiful greens of the Scottish Highlands.
Nina Campbell fabrics are distributed through Osborne and Little and their trim collections can certainly add the finishing details to these fresh, new fabrics.
Be Inspired by these lovely designs by Nina Campbell!
