Wow, it is hard to believe that it will be August this week! Time just gets away from me with my busy design practice and The Collected Tabletop! But the Chestnut Cottage garden is always a place of joy and a very serene spot for me. And I think all of the hard work is certainly good therapy! As I have told you before, the Spring garden is always my favorite, but I never cease to be amazed at what each week and each month brings to the garden.
The window boxes are still flowering beautifully and again, I am amazed that my heliotrope is still doing so well. Usually by the end of July , the heliotrope says goodbye for the year, due to the hot weather.
All of the window boxes and containers still look so healthy.
Since we were last “in the garden”, I have added a divine little Japanese Maple on the back terrace.
I love seeing it outside my kitchen window.
I also added five new rhododendron behind my little wooden bench in the front garden.
When I purchased Chestnut Cottage years ago, I found these two old hydrangea bushes that have grown together and they flower profusely during August. And boy do they ever render great material for floral arrangements!
Late July and August bring lots of phlox to the Chestnut Cottage garden.
And lots of beautiful lilies…
And by the way, my espalier apple trees are hanging full of lovely apples
As I said, each week brings lovely new surprises in the garden and lots of joy!
