Last, but certainly not least, is the “Memories Tree” that stands twelve plus feet tall in our living room.
Each tree at Chestnut Cottage is full of memories and each ornament has a special meaning to my family. As this is our largest tree, it is adorned with ornaments that reflect so many aspects of our life. For instance…Wells played football at the University of Minnesota and is a die hard Gopher! Thus these lovely ornaments…
Isn’t “Goldie Gopher” a stunning character…..especially keeping company with a Minnesota Santa!
And then there is my black Kelly bag that I found at Bergdorf’s this past week!
And I love this Mrs. Santa suit and “Vixen”!
And I must explain about this sad looking snowman! I actually made this ornament in the first grade in 1957! My sweet Mother ALWAYS had this on our tree at home and kept it there until she passed away. So I decided after her death, that Mr. 1957 Snowman would not be banished , but would be on the “Memories Tree”! He doesn’t exactly “fit”, but I am sure you will understand.
Wells and I both LOVE the Budweiser Clydesdales and found these ornaments years ago in NYC.
And our precious Bentley Greeley also has a presence on this tree!
I adore this lovely glass blown stocking…
The old vintage ornaments and the new ornaments all tell a story!
So…all of the trees at Chestnut Cottage are ready for the big day, as are the mantels and the windows in the living room!
I love these lovely white hellebores that were a gift from a client!
Don’t you love the contrast of the red with the flow blue! Everything in this arrangement , with the exception of the roses came from the garden at Chestnut Cottage…yew, winterberry, Frasier fur, fern, and boxwood. (that is a true reward for working in one’s garden!).
