Hibernate in Style!

I hope each of you had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the start of a new year! This past weekend eight inches of beautiful snow blanketed Chestnut Cottage. Oh how I love snow and the fact that it often causes us to “hibernate”. I was needing a day of reading by the fire and a nice little afternoon tea.

As I have said so many times, my library is my favorite room at Chestnut Cottage. That is particularly true on a snow day. This room is so cozy with its wormy chestnut paneling and old stone fireplace. Not to mention, that I am surrounded by my books!

Saturday afternoon I decided that a bit of tea was in order, so I pulled one of my favorite antique pieces close to the fire. I have had this little antique gate leg table for many years and it continues to make its home in the Chestnut Cottage library.

When not in use as a table by the fire, it holds books or sometimes part of my English barley twist candlestick collection.

Duncan MacDuff feels that the chair beside this table belongs to him!

I couldn’t resist using my Leighton Spray breakfast set for a bit of leftover pound cake from the Christmas Trifle and these adorable “Westie and Scottie” shortbread biscuits.

These were a Christmas gift from friends and I am not sure which I like best…the shortbread biscuits or the tin they came in!

Hope you will find time to relax by the fire, read a good book, and enjoy winter “hibernating”!

Who won the chair? How did Duncan feel about the little biscuits that looked like his family? Beautifully enticing.

That was nice day to stay inside and read a book. It looks like you all got quite a bit more snow than we did here in Middle Tennessee!

I received, as a gift, from you one of the Collected Tabletop aprons. I tried to iron it and that was not a good idea. I love and always get cute comments when I wear it at my dinner parties. Are they available for purchase? Where may I get one?

    Thanxxx

  8. Kathryn Greeley says:

    Hi Khaki,
I don’t think we have any left, but if I can find one I will ship it to you. Should I ship it to the store or do you want to call my office and give us an address.
Sorry about the ironing…the same thing happened to me!
